Tips to help you succeed at your next interview:

  • Planning is critical! This is an investment in your future
  • Research the company extensively via website, LinkedIn, company brochures, current or former employees, social media
  • Consider how you could add value to the company and be prepared to confidently discuss
  • Develop a list of potential interview questions and practice your answers
  • Many interviewers use behavioural interviewing questions, which require specific examples of past actions and behaviour at work
  • Be prepared to elaborate on your “strengths and weaknesses”
  • Arrive early for the interview! Plan travel arrangements thoroughly
  • Your manner should be professional, polite and confident rather than overly informal
  • Grooming and presentation are very important considerations. You get only one chance to make a first impression!
  • Use a firm handshake and maintain eye contact with your interviewer
  • Avoid negative or critical comments regarding past or present employers
  • Take a “show and tell”. Not only can this create a point of difference, it is also a valuable way for you to take control of the conversation and demonstrate capability
  • Send a thank you after the interview
  • Discuss the interview with your 360HR team member immediately following the interview
